Amen to this

I’ve always wondered why I get so irritated at fans of Chicago teams…I think Mike hit the nail on the head – Chicago Fans Suck

Two Days To Go

by Brian on October 4, 2006

Friday morning at 9:00, we are scheduled to welcome the newest member of our family. I have been stressed out lately trying to prepare for both the new addition and possibly not being able to work as much as I normally do for a couple weeks while Christie recovers. Sean will be taking over most of my responsibilities at BootsnAll for a few days, which will be great. I appreciate how well he treats me…even if I am a major pain sometimes.

Look for more updates here over the next few days as things settle out. I should be able to get pics online by the end of the day Friday and will post some here.

New Site Design

by Brian on September 28, 2006

I’m working on implementing a new site design. It may be a bit buggy for now, but looks much better than the last theme…and was customized specifically for me – nobody else has this theme (that I know of). Hopefully it will get finished before the new baby comes.

Mackenzie is 3!

by Brian on August 24, 2006

Wow…I can’t believe my daughter is already 3. It seems like time has gone by so fast. She is so cute, funny, and smart. She thinks she’s the boss of the house now. It’s amazing to watch her develop because there are little hints of both Christie and I in everything that she does. For those friends of mine who don’t have kids, I highly recommend it. Looking back, I would have missed out on so many cool little things that she has done and we have learned from her if Christie and I had stuck with the idea of never having kids.

Thoughts on World Cup

by Brian on June 14, 2006 · 1 comment

Maybe I’m just impatient or have some form of A.D.D., but I think most of the World Cup matches I’ve seen so far were really boring. I guess I just don’t understand why people get so excited over not seeing many goals. They need to open up the size of the goal a bit so that people score more. I guess being there in Germany around all the festivities would be more exciting. We went to a game in Romania while I was there earlier this year and it was kind of fun seeing all the crazy fans and everything going on around the game, but the game itself was kind of boring. Oh well…I know there are alot of people who hate watching NASCAR and think that it’s mind numbingly boring…I happen to love watching it.

New MacBook Pro

by Brian on June 13, 2006

Picked up a MacBook Pro over the weekend. I used to swear I’d never get a Mac, but this thing is really nice and has a ton of cool features. Right now I’m writing this post in a widget called WordPressDash. If you see this post, it worked ;)

Finished The Marathon

by Brian on June 5, 2006 · 1 comment

Somehow I managed to finish the Rock n’ Roll marathon in San Diego yesterday. 26.2 miles in 6 hours and 44 minutes (official chip time 6:44:06). That’s not a fast time, but I’m happy that I actually finished this one. Overall, I was 14470 out of 15771 that finished the 26.2 miles – supposedly 22000+ people started it. I ran the first half in 3 hours and then hit a wall at about mile 21 and slowed down quite a bit. Ioan finished it in 4:00:07 and Michele finished in 4:32:46, so they had to wait for me at the finish line.

I never imagined how inspiring it would be to do this marathon. There were people out there that I never would expect to even start a marathon, let alone finish. There were people crossing the finish line an hour after I had (I think they cut the rest off after that and shuttled them to the finish), barely walking, but smiles on their faces. I saw people fall hard while we were running downtown and ended up watching them come into the finishing area smiling and laughing. Michele said she even saw someone come across the line with a walker…crazy stuff.

My feet took the majority of the beating yesterday. There are some pretty huge blisters that showed up…I think they started developing about the 15 mile mark. I never cramped up and don’t really have too much muscle soreness. Tylenol 8 hour is good stuff :)

Michele, Ioan and I are already talking about what to do next. We’re thinking about a relay triathlon or something. I hope that we do. This was an awesome experience.

I’ll write more later and add some pics when I get home. Going to do some relaxing today.

Looks like a Girl

by Brian on May 25, 2006

Christie had an ultrasound yesterday and it looks like the new baby is going to be a girl. I’m pretty excited. Part of me wishes we were having a boy, but Mackenzie has been so great that I can see another girl making things even better. It just sucks to be me because I’ll be sharing a house with 3 women :|
